A small village looted in darkness, a family forced to flee. Florence Miailhe's breathtakingly beautiful debut feature is meticulously rendered with oil paint on glass throughout. The film takes place in a fictional world similar to central Europe but speaks universally to the story of displaced persons across the world, and is inspired by Miailhe's own family history, after her grandmother was forced to flee from Odessa with her 10 children.
