Reading and Discussion: Flip the Script - Women in Hip Hop

UK hip hop has traditionally revolved around London, but there has been an undeniable recent boom in hip hop creativity and innovation across all the nations, especially Scotland. Some of the most exciting new projects are coming from women in the genre, who are rarely centred in the hip hop narrative. Writer and Editor Arusa Qureshi explores this in her new book Flip the Script: How Women Came to Rule Hip Hop, published by 404 Ink. She is joined by three rising talents – Scotland's Nova, Northern Ireland's Don Chi, and Bianca Ali from Cardiff collective Ladies of Rage – to discuss hip hop's spread, a non-London perspective, and the women making it happen.
